Project HEART (Helping Expectant Moms Achieve
The opioid epidemic has led to a steep rise in the number of substance-exposed newborns and those born with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS). Project HEART was designed to assist hospital Mother/Baby units and OB/GYN practice sites in systematically screening and identifying expectant and post-partum mothers with risky substance use behavior. This exciting new Mosaic Group program is also integrating interventions in hospital and community obstetrical settings to respond to these vulnerable pregnant women and new mothers with interventions designed to provide support, substance abuse treatment referrals and resources for ongoing family stability. This Mosaic University course will provide an introduction to the Project HEART tools, trainings and guides to begin program-planning with your team.
